Unicount uses the Estonian Business Register API service for the automatic processing of company formation applications. Application to register a company can only be submitted to the Business Register via API if the application is digitally signed with an Estonian ID-card, e-resident card, mobile-ID, or Smart-ID. That is why we require users to log in to be sure that they have the capacity to sign the application digitally.

These are the authentication methods that have the highest security standards according to the EU eIDAS regulation. They enable to give qualified electronic signatures that are the equivalent legal level of the handwritten signature all over the EU. Estonian public and private services follow high-security standards and accept only users having a secure online identity.

If you do not hold an Estonian e-resident card you can apply here. For offline company formation, you should visit Estonian notary or appoint an agent to represent you as a founder in a notary. This requires a power of attorney accepted by the notary.
