How much does it cost to maintain a company that’s not doing business?
What are the minimum annual costs?
If your company is not generating income and not engaging in any activity, your annual cost depends on a few factors. At minimum, you need:
A virtual office and contact person service
This is legally required for non-residents. The current price for a Unicount virtual office with contact person service is €199/year.
Annual report filing
There are no dormant accounts in Estonia, and every company must submit annual accounts by 30 June for the previous year — even if there was no activity.
While it is possible to file the report yourself via the Estonian Business Register, many non-resident founders choose to outsource this step. Preparing a compliant report, even for a company with no operations, requires understanding the Estonian reporting format and terminology.
If you’re unsure or simply prefer peace of mind, working with a professional accountant (such as through 1Office or Unicount) can help avoid delays or mistakes.
No taxes or banking fees (if applicable)
If you're not VAT registered, not on the income tax register, and not paying salaries, there are no tax filings or obligations. Moreover, if you don’t have a bank account with monthly fees, there will be no banking cost.
